At a glance
You check a CashtoCode eVoucher balance in two places, never at CashtoCode: before you use it, the value is the fixed amount shown in your reseller's order confirmation email; after you enter the 20-digit PIN at a merchant checkout, the full value moves to your merchant account and the PIN drops to zero. Any amount left over sits with the merchant, so that is where you check it.
- The eVoucher value is fixed at purchase and cannot be topped up. Your reseller's order confirmation email shows the amount.
- The 20-digit PIN is single-use. Once redeemed, the full value moves to your merchant account and the PIN balance drops to zero.
- Remaining money stays on your merchant account, not on the PIN. You check it at the merchant, not at CashtoCode.
- There is no entry field on the CashtoCode side. Enter the PIN only at the checkout of a merchant that lists CashtoCode eVoucher.
- Unused codes do not lose value over time, but many resellers apply an expiry window, commonly 12 months from issue.
- C$1,500 Maximum value of one eVoucher in Canada The international ceiling outside Canada is $1,200 CashtoCode Help, denominations
- C$0 Balance left on a PIN after it is redeemed The value has moved to your merchant account CashtoCode Help, how to use
- 12 months Common reseller expiry window for unredeemed codes Set by the reseller, not by CashtoCode. Check its terms. CashtoCode Help, fees
- 14 to 30 days Typical reseller refund window for an unused code Only while the PIN has not been entered anywhere CashtoCode Help, refunds
A CashtoCode eVoucher only has a balance of its own until you use it. Before redemption, the value is the fixed amount in your reseller’s order confirmation email; after you enter the 20-digit PIN at a merchant, the value sits in your merchant account and the PIN is at zero.
What does “balance” mean on a CashtoCode eVoucher?
The CashtoCode eVoucher is a prepaid online payment method built around a 20-digit PIN. You buy it with a fixed value from an authorised online reseller, get the code by email, and enter it at the checkout of a partner merchant. The value is set when you buy and cannot be topped up later.
So the word “balance” can mean two different things, and each has its own answer.
| Situation | Where the value is | Where you check it |
|---|---|---|
| PIN bought, not yet entered anywhere | On the PIN, at the full purchase value | Your reseller’s order confirmation email |
| PIN entered at a merchant checkout | In your account at that merchant | The merchant’s balance and transaction history |
| Part of the deposit not yet spent | Still in your merchant account | The same merchant account |
| PIN already redeemed | Nowhere on the PIN, which is at zero | Nothing left to check on the code |
In short, a code is either unused and worth its face value, or used and worth nothing, because the money has moved on.
How do you check the value of an unused eVoucher?
Open the order confirmation email from your reseller. Canadian resellers send one after purchase, and it shows the amount you paid, the CAD value of the voucher and the payment method you used. Since the value is fixed and there are no maintenance or monthly fees, that number is still correct months later.
We do not run a balance checker, and there is no field on the CashtoCode side where you type in a PIN. That is deliberate. A PIN works like cash: anyone who has the 20 digits can redeem it at any partner merchant. So it belongs in one place only, the checkout of a merchant that lists CashtoCode eVoucher as a payment method. The page Is the CashtoCode eVoucher safe covers how to store it.
Lost the email? The reseller you bought from is the one that holds your order, so ask their support. Standard Canadian values and the per-voucher ceiling are listed under CashtoCode eVoucher denominations.
Where do you see your balance after redeeming?
At the merchant. When you submit a valid PIN, the merchant verifies it and credits your account straight away. The full value transfers in one go and the PIN itself drops to zero balance.
Log in to your account at that merchant and look at two things: the balance shown on the screen, and the deposit or transaction history. The history is more useful when something looks off, because it shows the redemption as a separate entry with its time.
Any money you do not spend straight away stays there. You can keep playing or shopping with it on the same merchant account. What you cannot do is move it back onto the PIN, or use the same PIN again. The redemption steps themselves are on the page How to use a CashtoCode eVoucher.
Can a CashtoCode PIN be partly used?
No. The PIN is single-use. Entering it at a checkout moves the entire value in one transaction, whatever you then spend. A single PIN also settles at exactly one merchant, so you cannot split one eVoucher across two accounts.
It works the other way round, though. At most partner merchants you can combine several eVouchers by entering one PIN at a time, and each value stacks on the previous one. The combined total per deposit is typically capped at around 1,500 in your local currency, and the merchant may set its own daily limits.
If you need an amount the reseller does not list, the usual approach is to buy the next value up and let the rest sit on your merchant account.
Why does a merchant say your code has no value?
Three causes cover almost every case. The PIN was already redeemed, so it is at zero. The value is below the merchant’s minimum deposit. Or the merchant does not accept CashtoCode in your region.
Check the merchant’s list of payment methods first. If CashtoCode eVoucher is there and the code has never been entered anywhere, go back to the reseller you bought it from before contacting the merchant. Codes bought outside the authorised reseller network are the hardest case. They are often already used, and we cannot refund a code that never came through the official channel, which is why buying from an authorised reseller matters.
Does unused eVoucher value expire?
Not gradually. The eVoucher carries no maintenance fees, no monthly charges and no balance erosion. A C$100 voucher is worth C$100 the day you buy it and still worth C$100 eleven months later.
Expiry is set by the reseller, not by CashtoCode. Most resellers state an expiry window, commonly 12 months from issue, after which an unredeemed code may simply stop working. Check your reseller’s terms when you buy.
If you no longer want an unused code, the reseller can often deactivate and refund it within its stated window, usually 14 to 30 days from purchase. Once the PIN has been entered at a merchant, even partly, that option is gone. Details are on the page CashtoCode eVoucher refund.
What if the balance never appeared after redeeming?
Occasionally a PIN shows as accepted but no credit appears. Work through it in this order.
Find the redemption time. Your reseller confirmation email and your own notes help here. Then open the merchant’s transaction history and look for the deposit, rather than relying on the headline balance.
If nothing has landed after 30 minutes, contact the merchant’s support and give them the redemption time. After redemption the merchant is responsible for your account and any service issue, not CashtoCode. Raise it soon: the trail is easier to check within days than weeks later.
Keep an unused PIN to yourself throughout. Do not paste it into chat windows, email threads or social-media messages, because whoever holds it can redeem it first. Once it has been redeemed, it is at zero and of no use to anyone.

How to check your CashtoCode eVoucher balance
-
Find your order confirmation email
Your reseller sends one after purchase. It shows the amount paid, the CAD value of the voucher and the payment method.
-
Decide whether the PIN is used
If you have not entered the PIN at any merchant, its value is still the full amount you bought.
-
Log in to your merchant account
If you redeemed the PIN, open the account at the merchant where you entered it. That is where the value went.
-
Check the transaction history
Look at the deposit list, not only the headline balance. It shows the redemption and its time.
-
Contact the right party if something is missing
A missing credit goes to the merchant's support with your redemption time. Questions about an unused code go to the reseller.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check my CashtoCode eVoucher balance?
It depends on whether you have used the PIN. An unused eVoucher holds exactly the value you bought, which your reseller's order confirmation email shows. Once you enter the PIN at a merchant checkout, the full value moves to your merchant account, so you check what is left in that account, not at CashtoCode.
Is there a CashtoCode balance checker website?
We do not provide one, and there is no field on the CashtoCode side where you enter a PIN. The only place a PIN belongs is the checkout of a merchant that lists CashtoCode eVoucher as a payment method. Keep the code private, because anyone who has it can redeem it.
Can I use part of a PIN and keep the rest on the code?
No. The PIN is single-use. When you redeem it, the whole value transfers to your merchant account and the PIN drops to zero. If you do not spend it all, the remainder stays on your merchant account, where you can keep using it. A PIN also cannot be split across two merchants.
Does an unused CashtoCode eVoucher lose value?
No. There are no maintenance fees, no monthly charges and no gradual balance erosion. A C$100 voucher is still worth C$100 months later. Many resellers do apply an expiry window, commonly 12 months from issue, after which an unredeemed code may stop working, so check your reseller's terms.
My PIN was accepted but the balance never appeared. What now?
Check your reseller confirmation email for the time you redeemed, then look at the merchant's transaction history rather than the displayed balance. If the credit has not landed after 30 minutes, contact the merchant's support with your redemption time. The merchant, not CashtoCode, handles service issues after redemption.
Why does the merchant say my code has no value?
The most common reason is that the PIN was already redeemed, since a used PIN drops to zero. Other reasons are an amount below the merchant's minimum deposit, or a merchant that does not accept CashtoCode in your region. If the code is genuinely unused, contact the reseller you bought it from first.
Can I get money back for an unused balance?
Sometimes, through the reseller. If the PIN has not been entered at any merchant, most resellers can deactivate it and refund it within their stated window, usually 14 to 30 days from purchase. Once a code has been redeemed, even in part, no refund is possible through the reseller.
